There is a need to surrender in the process of recovery. To surrender requires humility and acknowledgment that only God can save your life. An understanding that you do not have the answer. To surrender requires an understanding that only a power greater than ourselves can and will save us from ourselves. When we admit that our best thinking has left us morally broke and destitute of answers, it is then we lift our heads to a power greater than ourselves and surrender our will to the God of our understanding. It is only when we surrender that we can ever receive the help we so desperately require to live. To surrender is the first step in recovery, it is the step we must take for recovery to begin.
