    Who is to Blame?

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textOften we attempt to attach a body to our own bad decisions. We try to push fault on our broken childhood, or our misguided parents or care givers. Maybe our environment. A tangible bad event that occurred earlier in life. What ever happened ultimately it was our decisions that netted the bad consequences we suffered. We are free moral beings. We decided for ourselves are direction and course. Even in mandated situations where we had no choice,  but to follow a course of action, it remains our decision to stay on a given path. The decision to remain a victim or choose courage and leap into the arms of God as we understand him. There remains a valid  decision to recover and live or not and die.  Blame is for the victim, victims choose fear over courage. To choose to live requires faith and the courage to change that which you can. Change or die. Nobody is responsible for your recovery but you. Regardless of whom you blame to get to where you are . Only you can recover you. With Gods strength and immense mercy we recover. We do better, we improve. We live again. Listen as Trent proclaims who is to blame.beat outro loopSupport the showRecovery is a process of decisions.

We serve a almighty God nothing is beyond his reach or power. We serve a merciful God and rich is his reward for those that choose to submit to him. In recovery things do get better. Recovery is one day at a time

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textLife is hills and valleys. Life is one thing then the next. We cannot undue the mistakes of the past nor predict the events of the future. We depend on our next breath, next heart beat, next eye blink. We need each and everyone in succession. Our recovery is defined as a decision to live and not die. Men and women are not in competition

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textA man cannot defeat a woman at being a woman; the same is true for women. A woman cannot defeat a man at being a man. There is no one better at being a woman than a woman. The same is true for men, for there is no one better at being a man than a man. A woman is, by design, interred with the ability to place feelings in all her interactions. This places her foremost in gaining understanding, which is knowledge processed with feelings. We know that wisdom is derived from applying understanding in one's life. Thus women are in a better position to attain wisdom. Wisdom is the precursor to serenity and happiness in one's life. Women process everything with feelings. This is powerful; however, feelings are not facts, and one should never put feelings in front of the facts. For this reason, she needs a partner who does not process feelings first in addressing life's hills and valleys. With this, a man and a woman are the perfect companions as each possess a absolute needed mechanism of approaching life. In each other, they find the perfect equated prossesor for dealing with life's valued equasions. Men and women are the perfected interpersonal tools by design. No, a man-woman relationship should not be man versus woman, but rather man and woman. Recovery is my decision to live

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textRecovery begins with a decision to live and not die. For me, this happened on the day a treatment counselor asked me if I needed help. Needing help and asking for it are two totally different things. When asking for help, one must surrender and be prepared to follow instructions. On that day, my recovery began as I admitted I did not have the solution, and I began to follow instructions. One day at a time I learned what to and what not to do. I learned that recovery was a blessing. I learned that the struggle I endured was a blessing as well. With these blessings, I sustain my recovery each and every day. How my Recovery is sustained

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textRecovery means making the next right decision. Sustaining recovery involves making a practice of doing this each and every day. The practice of looking for and subscribing to making the next right decision on a minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour, day-by-day basis. This life is a struggle and is not easy. Recovery requires the hard work of doing better. Making better decisions consistently and daily. Recovery requires a perspective that mandates gratitude to the God of your understanding for granting you another new day to just do better. A new opportunity to live and be better, live better, perform better. Recovery requires living life on life's terms. Being the best version of yourself. Never perfect, but always perfecting oneself into being your absolute best. Recovery requires keeping it simple

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textLiving life on life's terms requires admitting that life is a struggle, and no, it's not easy. Admitting that its Gods plan, not mine, that directs me and gives me hope and confidence in my future. My daily striving to help someone other than myself keeps me sober. Keeping it simple means letting God direct my steps. Realizing it's his plan, not mine. My sobriety is dependent on my belief in a power greater than me that sustains me and permits me to live. My very next breath is by his permission. Today I seek serenity and peace in my daily affairs, His plan, not mine. His script. I live each day with the full understanding that God is the author, the movie director, the ship captain, the airplane pilot, the script writer, the book author, and that I am a willing participant in his plan. There is no recovery without God. For me, my success is dependent on my full faith in the God of my understanding. God first. If I don't put God first, anything else will ultimately fail. My disease will trade away anything that I put before God. The Job, the money, the family. With the disease of addiction, nothing else matters. My God must come first. The battle for truth in recovery

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textTodays world is beset with lies. Each day we must choose between left or right, wrong or right. The truth is at a premieum in the times we live in. Addiction is rooted in the lie. Addicts depend on the lie to advance their addictive life style. Addicts oppose God. Infact Addiction requires the abscence of God. For this we know there is no recovery without God. God initiates and sustains recovery. Recovery demands the everyday search for the truth. Truth is at enimity with the lie and the liar. A person is known by the words he speaks. The purveyor of lies is a liar. A liar is opposed to God. In recovery we run from the liar and seek recourse in the truth that is recovery. What works for me works for me

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textRecovery is a extremely personal decision. What works for me may or may not work for you. In recovery there are some commonality. In addiction the pain addicts feel is the same. The dependency of drugs and alcohol remains the same in its effects it has on the human body. The misery caused by making one wrong decision after another is felt exactly the same for every addict. The fact that it takes more and more drugs and alcohol to feel the desired effects is the same for all addicts. The shame and guilt experienced by making one bad decision after another is felt exactly the same by all addicts. What we have in common reads like a bed time story where we all know the tragic ending, before the story begins. We all experience the misalignment with life as well as the miserable degeneration as our life unravels one thread after another. What we all share is the need for a power greater than ourselves to save us and recognize there is no other answer to our miserable life saving recovery other than this power greater than ourselves. How low can you go?

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textIn life you reap what you sow.  Low living or living a immoral life garners you the consequences of those wrong decisions. Being a low life steers you away from the success driven path of taking the high road. Inevitably man sins. As sinful men we all fall down. However with the merciful forgiveness we get from God we can receive the help only God can give and recover. God cannot ignore sin but he does forgive and permit recovery. Man was created to recover. Man was created to do better. With the help of God we can aspire to reach new heights. We can get up off our knees and walk even run again. With Gods mercy we can recover. Exiting hell with hope

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textMany say hell is a place you goto when you die. Others know hell can be a state of mind that exist in the here and now. Hell can be a place you find yourself in while living. Hell can be a steep hill or a deep valley you cannot escape from. Hell can be a place you find yourself in because of your poor or bad decisions. Hell can be dark and void of any light. Hell can be a place you put yourself in. A deep dark depressed state of existence. A place with no light from God . A place that exist in your own mind. A place that exist every where you are. Where ever you go there you are. Hell can be a place of misery. A miserable existence. Hell can be literally worst than death. To escape from hell one needs a power greater than yourself. A power of super natural strength is needed to break the binds of hell . Recovery is a lifestyle of living and not dying.

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textRecovery is a decision to live and not die. It involves making the next right decision. Recovery remains a life seeking truth. Being truthful in all your affairs. Addiction is a disease of the lie. In addiction we begin by lying to ourselves and then we lie to everyone else. The treatment for a disease of the lie is truth. The lie is rendered inert by the truth. Recovery invokes the truth. God is truth, everything God does is truthful. The lie is opposite the truth. A liar opposes God by the very lies he tells. God cannot lie. To follow God's plan one must render himself truthful. God cannot partner with a lie. There is no recovery without God. Therefore there is no recovery without the truth. Truth is light. God exist in the light of truth. To lie is to wander in darkness. Recovery demands a lifestyle of living a truthful life. Recovery is a decision to live and not die. Listen as Trent relays his path from living a life of lying to just doing better by living a life of truth.beat outro loopSupport the showRecovery is a process of decisions.

Seeking the difference between helping and enabling

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textHelp is defined as assisting someone to overcome an obstacle or challenge. Enabling, rather, is defined as preventing someone from experiencing the consequences of an action. The difference between these two approaches can be the difference between life and premature death. Helping someone to enter the road to recovery can be life saving. Enabling someone lost in an addictive life cycle can be painful and lead to a premature death sentence. Giving to a person in active addiction can foster a dependence that can be life-threatening. In fact, with today's source of illegal drugs, a person's decision to use could very well be the last decision they ever make. Helping someone make a better decision can be disheartening if they make a preventable bad decision. However, the decisions we make all have consequences and rewards. It's the consequences that foster change. Removing or abating the consequences removes the natural progression of lives hills and valleys mandate. We all must abide by the universal mandate that states for every bad decision, there are consequences, and for every correct or right decision, we receive rewards. In this interplay exist the provisions of God. There is no recovery without God, and often we must get out of God's way so God can do what God does.beat outro loopSupport the showRecovery is a process of decisions.

It takes courage to ask for help

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textNeeding help and asking for it is two totally different things. To ask for help, you must first admit you need help. To ask for help, one must first be in a state of submission. Asking for help requires that one be willing to follow the instructions offered by the helper. To ask for help, one must admit you don't have the answers. Just as asking for directions, one admits they don't know where they are going. The first trait required to ask for help is courage. Despite fear, one forges on to do what must be done. This defines courage: accomplishing a task regardless of fear. The courage to change the things you can. Asking for help is step one. The innate quality or trait of courage is step one in beginning recovery. Recovery is a process. The trait of courage is the first inner quality that must be present, because it takes courage to ask for help. Asking for help is the first step of recovery. Listen as Trent defines courage as a preeminent first step in the step ladder of recovery.beat outro loopSupport the showRecovery is a process of decisions.

    The Miracle of Recovery

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textA miracle is defined as a supernatural act performed by God. God does not need the manifestations of the natural world to accomplish his directions. In the beginning, he said let there be light, and light came to be, yet the sun was not created until days later. Proving God does not need the natural components of nature to make real his imagination. He says be, and it becomes. God operates in the supernatural. Recovery is a miracle it exists despite the limitations of the natural world. My recovery from the death destiny I found myself embroiled in while in active addiction is a true miracle. The how and why of its mechanism go beyond my understanding. What I cannot conceive is easy for God to accomplish. His will became the way. My submission to his will and my plea for his help were the only requirements. His mercy is extraordinary, as well as his power over space and time. My life was remarkably saved by a power greater than me. A true miracle. Facing setbacks in recovery

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textWe all should be mindful that you have not lost if you are still running. A setback is a new opportunity just to do better. Doing better requires a consistent and continual evaluation of what is possible. Better is also a decision. To learn, one must accept they don't know. There is a slogan that states 'What's understood need not be explained.' Understanding is the key. Doing better requires we know better, which means we must learn better; to learn better, we need better teachers. In recovery, the best teachers have lived experience. To have been through something indicates you know something. Right or wrong. In life, you will learn what to and what not to do. To teach something, you have been through something. This may be the very reason why you were taken through a particular situation, so that you can teach it to others. Life is informational; you will learn one way or another. Life teaches us to do better or die. You cannot keep making the same mistake over and over again. The consequences get more and more severe with each bad decision we make. Mistakes are followed by an opportunity to do better. Bumps in the road are followed by course corrections. Opportunities to get it right and recover. To bounce back. Straiten up and fly right. Setbacks are necessary to see that we need to drive better, correct ourselves. The opportunity to correct ourselves keeps us from driving off the road and dying. The measurement of time in recovery

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textWe are finite, meaning we have an expiration date. We are born, we live and then we die. The God we serve however is infinite, meaning has no ending. God is Omnipresent, meaning everywhere all the time. God exists in infinity, never ever ending. God has no beginning and no ending. God knows what we know not. Even time bows to the will of God. God does not measure time in the same components as we do. The determination of his will is not bound by time. God operates in the super natural . His will is not dependent on the natural world and its time constraints. God is infinite, no measurement of ending time. Time is Gods gift to man, what we do with it is our return to him. Listen as Trent espouses on the meaning of time in recovery.beat outro loopSupport the showRecovery is a process of decisions.

What help looks like in recovery

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textHelp is defined as assisting someone with resources in attempting to do something. Help requires submission. Needing help is not the same as asking for help. Because of the selfish characteristics associated with the disease of addiction, many times an individual in need of help is not ready to be helped. Assisting an addict often can be more destructive than constructive. Because of the manipulative nature of a person in active addiction, help is often felt as a right. This, however, is untrue and in fact, help is an act of compassion and love by the person offering the help. No one is mandated to offer help. This is especially true when help is not requested sincerely in submission. The one requesting help should be searching for a path to follow in their recovery journey. The question should always be Who is doing the work. We must be mindful that we are not GOD. We can only fix ourselves. By keeping the focus on ourselves and offering our life experience as what to and what not to do, we avoid the pitfall of overstepping our boundaries and steering someone onto what could be a destructive path for them. The need to help someone other than myself

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textLife is circular. What is will be again? We all fall down and at some point need help. Asking for help when needed is a sign of intelligence. In order to help someone, we must be in a position to help. To help someone, we must first help ourselves. In order to love someone, we must first love ourselves. In order to teach, we must first learn. Today's learning becomes tomorrow's teaching. To teach something, you must first know something. Learning is mandatory in recovery. Listening is a requirement of helping. We must learn from our bad past decisions. By learning better, we can then do better. Recovery means making the next right decision. By helping someone other than ourselves, we optimize our ability to help ourselves. Why revealing is so healing

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textIn AA, there is a slogan that states that to recover, one must uncover. This translates to in order to heal, one must reveal. Truth is the remedy to the lie. Addiction is a disease rooted in self-deception, a lie. To treat this disease, one must apply the remedy of truth. God is truth, everything God does is truthful, and God cannot lie. To depart from the words of God is the very definition of the lie. Revealing the truth about your bad past decisions and the ensuing consequences provides healing from the scars and cuts of tragic events, caused by those horrible past bad decisions. To reveal and expose these events with the truth of testimony provides the treatment necessary to heal the deep-rooted cuts and scars caused by addiction and the addictive lifestyle. To reveal these bad decisions is like bathing a cut in the warmth and healing effects of air and sunlight. Scar tissue is the result of the healing process on a cut to your skin. Recovery and the rewards of recovery are the results of the healing process caused by the application of revealing truth to the deep emotional cuts caused by addiction and its resulting bad decisions. Truth originates from God, and there is no recovery without God. Revealing the truth about your bad past decisions is healing on multiple levels. Being a father in recovery

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textA father has a specific definition in the family unit. A father has a specific designation in the community. What constitutes a father is deliberate and dynamic. A father garners recognition when he carries his life out according to a specific criterion. A father has a place, generates respect, and is worthy of imitating. The greatest compliment for fatherhood is to be copied.  A father in recovery has a definitive vibe. To be a father is worthy of praise and emulation. What is mean to be a father in recovery? Listen as Trent spells out his definition of fatherhood. The lesson here is progress, not perfection. What it means to turn my will over to the God of my understanding.

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textMy will is my will. I can't turn it over to someone else, I can't absolve it.  We are all free will creations. Free to decide for ourselves what to and what not to do. We were created unique and special in the entire universe, both known and unknown. Our will is not instinct or mandated action, but rather is completely under our control. We possess a moral capacity that places our will under direction from our God center. Our moral compass is tightly wound within our will to live. Our will is independent and subject to our decision-making process, which includes learning to do better. With our free will, we can decide to turn our will over to God. This means living a life based on truth. This is because God is the truth. God cannot lie. Everything God does is truthful. When we decide to live a life of truth, we become worthy of trust. A will based on honesty, truth, and loyalty makes one trustworthy, worthy of trust. Declare that GOD is

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textIt is not my intention to prove GOD exists. I would rather declare through demonstration of how GOD has manifested his existence through the assistance and guidance he has applied to my life, how he has restored a wretch like me to sanity, how he has granted me a life of serenity. A life abundant in joy and complete with the rewards of making better decisions. A life of serenity where I know everything is already alright. GOD'S existence is demonstrated with the life-saving recovery he has instituted in my life, how he restored a homeless, jobless, loveless, drug addicted, thief, and womanizer to one of sanity, humility, honesty, and truthfulness, A financially solvent man. From parents we learn what to and what not to do

We welcome your inspiring comments. Send a textThere are no perfect parents. As such, the child outcome is as varied and radical as the means by which instruction is handed down. From parents we learn what to and what not to do. We learn as much, if not more, from mistakes as we do from success. With this in mind, we can learn just as we learn what not to do. Either way, we learn. In this, if you don't like what a parent did, then don't repeat it. The object here is to do better. Be better than your parents. Aspire to be better, do better.
