स्वामिनः विवेकानन्दस्य व्यथा

विश्वसम्मेलने उपस्थितौ कौचित् अमेरिकीयदम्पती स्वामिनं विवेकानन्दं स्वगृहं प्रति निमन्त्रितवन्तौ । गृहम् आगतवते स्वामिने उत्तमभोजनादिशयनव्यवस्थां परिकल्पितवन्तौ । अर्धरात्रे तल्पे विश्रामं कुर्वतः स्वामिनः मनसि दम्पत्योः समग्राम् उत्कृष्टां व्यवस्थां दृष्ट्वा भारतदेशस्य जनानां चित्रम् आगतम् । अपूर्णोदरान् अपर्याप्ताच्छादकान् भारतीयान् स्मृत्वा तन्मनः दुःखग्रस्तं जातम् । दुःखदारिद्र्यपूर्णं जीवनं यापयतः असङ्ख्यान् भारतीयान् स्मृत्वा तस्य नेत्रयोः अश्रूणि आगतानि । (“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)At an international conference, a certain American couple invited Swami Vivekananda to their home. They made arrangements for excellent food and sleeping accommodations for him. When Swami Vivekananda was resting on a cot around midnight, upon seeing the couple's well-organized arrangements he started to imagine the condition of Indians. Thinking about the impoverished, underprivileged and poorly clothed Indians, he became deeply saddened. Remembering the countless Indians suffering from poverty and hardship, tears welled up in his eyes.
