Sylvester, seudónimo de Sylvester James, fue un cantante y músico estadounidense que nació un 06 de septiembre de 1947. Considerado uno de los primeros cantantes en mostrar su homosexualidad en aquellos tiempos cuando aún provocaba sorpresa que alguien lo declarase en público. Fue conocido por sus vestuarios y pelucas femeninas y por ser uno de los artistas más importantes del sonido disco, a finales de los años 70. Llamado la «Reina del Disco» sus canciones más importantes fueron «You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)», «Dance (Disco Heat)» (ambos de 1978) y «Do You Wanna Funk» (1982). Su técnica vocal estuvo centrada en el uso del falsete (a pesar de tener una voz de barítono), siendo también uno de los pioneros del sonido Hi-NRG, de finales de los años 70 e inicios de los 80, junto a Patrick Cowley. Hoy en el marco del mes del género y la diversidad escucharemos You Make Me Feel interpretado por Sylvester.
