Die Wet op Hoër Onderwys vereis dat al die inheemste tale op gelyke speelveld geplaas moet wees by universiteite. Dit vereis taalhulpbronne wat insluit taallaboratoria, tolkdienste, speltoetsers, en meertalige termlyste. Om te bepaal wat by die land se 26 universiteite beskikbaar is, word ‘n taalhulpbronoudit tans gedoen. Die toegepaste taalkundige, prof.
