智翔新社人，因擔任蔡其昌立委山城服務處主任，返鄉打拼，長期服務鄉親，紮根基層，這次要參與台中東勢、新社、石岡、和平的議員選舉。 台中合併後，城鄉差距越來越大，原台中市因建設多對人口發生磁吸效應，反而淘空鄉鎮的人口。 鄉下的鄉親還是有不要參與政治的刻板印象，智翔家也沒什麼皇親國戚，並不那麼贊成智翔從政。但智翔服務鄉親有成，也逐漸改觀。 政治人物最大的職業傷害是胖，跑攤三餐不正常，面對鄉親的餵食，又要來者不拒，結束一天行程後可能才會感到餓，反而變成吃宵夜，傷害更大。
