from Talkin' Pitt by Pitt Sports Performance · host Brenna
Talkin’ Pitt Episode Twenty-Four, Coach Young is back as this week's host to kick off the podcast for 2024. For this week's episode, Coach Young has a chance to talk with Matt Mitcheroney. Coach Mitch is currently at James Madison University as the Associate Director of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning Coach, overseeing all aspects of training for baseball & softball. During this conversation, Coach Mitch dives into how he was influenced by his early mentor, Sean Foster, during his time at American University in DC. Got bit by the weightlifting bug and how it has made him a better coach when working with his athletes around positions and movement standards. Later in the episode, Coach Mitch gives his view on periodization, when he has found ways to plan out long stretches of training, and when he needs a plan that is more fluid depending on the sport, the season of that sport, and the training age of his athletes. We want to thank Coach Mitch for coming on the podcast and look forward to having him on again. We hope you all enjoy the podcast and HAIL 2 PITT.
