I’m Steve and I’m Hannah. Today we’re talking about eating your way to health. You’ve probably heard the saying that food should nourish your body and your soul. Well that’s what eating clean is all about—feeding your body nutritious foods it needs. A diet full of whole grains like oatmeal and healthy fats like avocados is what you should strive for. The Harvard School for Public Health says eating whole grains can lower your cardio vascular risk by 15%. The journal of the American Heart Association says that avocados can lower your cholesterol. So the next time you go to the grocery store don’t forget to pick-up some avocados and oatmeal. Nutritionists also say you should eat a colorful diet of fruits and veggies. Think of a rainbow red, orange, yellow green blue and purple. If you Google the rainbow diet you’ll find an extensive list. This is a great way to get all of the nutrition you need, as well as making your meals exciting and delicious all at the same time. When you start to eat healthier it can be hard to cut back on everything. The way to be successful is not just watch what you eat but how much. Another important tip is drinking water throughout the day. Keasel Broome is a professional soccer player with the San Jose earthquakes. He suggests drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day. If you want an eating program that works for the long run, you'll need a lifestyle you can live with and like. That means a diet that's nutritious and delicious. Staying lean is a big part of good health. Just remember to eat a variety of healthy foods and drink more water. Coming up next week it’s our final TalkingFit show, we’ll talk living a healthy lifestyle.
