I am Gloria Grace and I really am delighted to welcome you to another edition of Live Love Engage because we're going to be talking about a very cool modality that is very, very helpful, actually, one I experienced just a couple days ago as a matter of fact. But we'll get into that in a minute. I'm going to leave you in suspense. But if you're new to the show here, I just want to introduce myself a little bit more so I’m known as the Light Messenger and I'm a spiritual alignment coach and women entrepreneurs hire me to clear the inner blocks, keeping you stuck so you can put yourself first and live the life you want now. Not later, not tomorrow, but now, for heaven's sakes. And I am so glad to have our guest with us today. Her name is Monique Verpoort and she is a registered social worker and a certified practitioner in the modality of Emotional Freedom Technique, otherwise known as EFT Tapping. And not only that, she's an author as well of a book called Is This All There Is? Living a life beyond obligation. And I just realized I want to ask her about that as well, but I know we're going to be talking about EFT a lot. She's also worked in the field of children's mental health for close to 20 years. So without further ado, I'm going to bring Monique on and officially now welcome you to Live Love Engage. Monique Verpoort Thank you. So happy to be here. Gloria Grace Rand Well, I'm very interested in having you on the show to talk about EFT because I realized I've been doing this podcast now for over three years and I… of all the different modalities and guests we've had on, I don't think I've had anybody talking about EFT. And I, as I mentioned, I was on a networking event actually the other day and the host of it led us in a session. But I'm not going to say any more, say anything more about that. But I want to let you sort of, first of all explain to our listeners and those watching on YouTube what got you interested in it and then you can probably explain a little bit more detail about what it actually is. Monique Verpoort Exactly. Sure. Well, I got into this probably about twelve years ago. I was actually looking for something. Was doing a Google search while I was at work and on EMDR, which is an evidence based modality as well that is typically using eye movements to work with, to work through trauma traumatic memories. And one thing led to another and then I landed on this thing called EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques and started reading testimonials about what this was. It really intrigued me because everything I read was just it almost sounded too good to be true. People were reporting these major transformations from living with traumatic experiences and just having lives full of suffering and all of a sudden they were using this technique and they were living this great life and overcoming whether it was physical challenges or emotional challenges, what have you. And so I thought, oh my gosh, there's got to be something to this. So I started experimenting with it myself. And sure enough, I thought, okay, this is really interesting. I'm actually getting some relief on a physical level, but also on the emotional level. That was sort of the beginning what piqued my interest. And then I actually had sort of a major life event that involved a close relationship. And there were some issues around betrayal that just kind of hit me over the head. And I was just really at a very low point. And I started using the tapping. I actually went to a practitioner to work through this. And it was incredible. Sort of the results I was getting through that with this practitioner. And I said, you know what? This is too good to be true. And it wasn't just me. I was witnessing other people that were in this program. Well, actually, I'm jumping ahead. I decided to get certified in it. And I was noticing people in the program were getting similar results in the moment and it was just, it blew me away. Gloria. I thought, this is just incredible and I need to learn how to do this and I need to be able to help people with this. And that was sort of the beginning of it all. And it's served me really well over the last decade. Gloria Grace Rand Wow. Well, I'm certainly glad that you did get a lot of benefit out of it. And I've done it a few times, but I'm not sure. I guess perhaps I haven't done it enough consistently. I suppose like anything, it's probably that the more you do it, the better results you probably have in the long term. But I want to, before I'll have you maybe address that, but could you maybe explain a little bit about the theory behind it and how is it that people are able to get such good results? Because it's called tapping. Like I said, I know kind of what it is, but I'd rather have someone like you who's an expert, explain to our audience. For those of you out there who haven't heard of it, what exactly is it and how does it have that, create emotional freedom? That's the way to say it, right? Monique Verpoort Yeah, for sure. Well, I think the easiest way to conceptualize what this is is acupuncture without needles. It's a form of acupressure. In the same way, if anybody's familiar with, well, acupuncture, we know that there are specific targeted acupoints along the body's meridian system, which are energy circuits that we can't see with the eyes, but we actually, we know they're there. And acupuncturists have known this for a very long time. Three to five thousand years is typically what you read when you look into the origins of this. It was really a form, it is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that includes, you know, one aspect is this acupuncture. So it is by actually massaging, rubbing or tapping, hence the name tapping. EFT tapping. What we are doing is we're tapping on those acupoints where there is stuck energy. And so we know this energy. What is that? Well, it's our life force that runs through us when we're in this body. It is also emotions that get stuck in the tissues, the fascia, the nervous system in the body. And when we can apply this pressure to these Acupoints, typically in EFT tapping, we stick with sort of the head and the upper part of the body. We can actually release that stuck energy at those points that have accumulated to enable this free flow of energy through our bodies. And the belief that the Chinese have really passed on in terms of how this works is that optimal vitality is really when we have our energy flows that are unimpeded, that run through the body, and then we have optimal health in terms of the functioning of our different biological systems, respiratory, digestive, et cetera. And so it is a form of a sort of release of these points. So that is the, by and large, the sort of the overall picture of this. Gloria Grace Rand I appreciate you sharing that. Now I want to get to sort of what I was hinting at before is because I feel I've done it and gotten some relief in the moment, but I haven't been a consistent practitioner of it. So do you find and have you found this even with your own personal experience with it and maybe with clients as well, that,...
