Tembisa community members demand reversal of fixed electricity charge

Disgruntled Tembisa community members have barricaded roads with rocks and burning tyres over electricity tariff increases. In April, Eskom increased its electricity tariffs by close to 13% and municipal customers saw an 11,32% increase starting from July the first. Several vehicles including a minibus taxi have been damaged. The Ekurhuleni Mayor, Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has arrived in Thembisa to address protesting residents. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter, Horisani Sithole
