Temple Mount Project Episode 1: What is the Temple Mount Project?

Located in Jerusalem, the Temple Mount resides on what used to be known as Mount Moriah and over the years it has been a place of many historical events. Throughout history it has changed hands many times and today is a place of great importance to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Due to all the history that is stored there, laws were put in place that banned any excavating from taking place at the site. But in 1999, an illegal excavation began which involved the careless removal of piles of dirt from under the Temple Mount. To preserve the relics that were found there, The Temple Mount Sifting Project began. Since then, 85 percent of the debris has been sifted through, though much of it remains to be studied.
