Però hi ha una realitat de la qual se'n parla poc o o no se'n parla gens: en els últims anys ha crescut el nombre de dones de més de 40 anys amb aquest diagnòstic. Dones a les quals els costa molt trobar ajuda perquè, en general, i fins ara, les unitats per tractar aquestes malalties estan pensades per a noies molt més joves que elles.
