Thankful: Part 2 – Thanksgiving for His Sacrifice

from Cross Church Winnipeg Sermon Podcast · host The Church Co

Some are from a Christian heritage that celebrates the Eucharist, which we call Communion. Eucharist comes from the Greek word for “Thank you.” Jesus gave thanks to God when he broke the bread to feed the multitude in John 6 and elsewhere. We read that Jesus on the night he was betrayed by Judas, gave thanks and broke the bread celebrating the last Passover with with His disciples. He tells us to continue to do this as an act of remembrance and thanksgiving for what He would do at the Cross. Today we remember Jesus broken body and blood and we give thanks for the salvation that is ours through Him. To all who believe in Him, He gives us new life, abundant life and eternal life. These are the greatest gifts on earth.
