With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Choose Your Words Wisely. Remember the phrase, "Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones, but Words Can Never Hurt Me?" Most of us were taught to say this as a last-ditch comeback (lame as it was) when someone said unkind/hurtful words. Those words felt empty to me even as a kid. I have countless memories of how words hurt me so deeply that I can still feel the pain. At the same time, we were also taught, "The Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword," which is contrary to the previous phrase. This phrase went over my head when I was young. But today, this lesson of how words can be more devastating than the wounds caused by a sword rings supreme. Let's talk about the power words can and do have and how to use that power responsibly.
