In Parshat Tazria/Metzora, the Torah’s requirement for a woman to wait 40 or 80 days after childbirth reveals a deeper spiritual principle—that true growth comes through waiting. Rebbe Nachman teaches that accessing the Infinite Light (Keter) requires a pushback, a delay that builds vessels. The waiting period allows the mother to internalize the light generated through the creation of life, which itself is a moment of connection to the Infinite. The doubling for a girl reflects an added dimension of future potential, as she too carries the capacity for creation.This process teaches that setbacks, delays, and feelings of distance are not obstacles but essential stages of growth. Just as the waiting leads to renewed connection through the korbanot, today our tefillot serve that role.
