"The Abandoned King" (Mark 14:43-52) — Jeremiah Modino

The reality of Jesus’ Kingship and Messiahship was not what the Jews expected. The people expected a Davidic-like king that would conquer, liberate and overthrow the Roman Empire, whereas Jesus chose to die on a Roman cross. Jesus’s life and ministry would subvert the powers and authorities of sin and death in a way no one expected, and even Jesus’ own disciples did not fully comprehend until after the resurrection. In this series, we’ll unpack the passion narrative, and how at every point, the people around Jesus never understood His mission, and what He was ultimately seeking to accomplish.
