THE ART OF COURAGE A - BOOK BY SIMON EKIN

from Afternoon Talk · host SAfm

INTRODUCING THE ART OF COURAGESpeaker, Teacher and Author on the subject of Courage, Simon Ekin, has recently written and published a transformational, ground-breaking book on the subject called The Art of Courage. BACKGROUNDIn our lives we are faced with different challenges every day – professionally, personally and socially. The most difficult challenges are the ones that create a paralysing fear that somehow over power or move us away from our desired goals. We often live with regrets and excuses about the things we should, and could have done. The Art of Courage is a book – and a methodology – that changes all that and assists listeners and readers alike in re-framing fear into opportunity. The book charts Simon’s story of courage, from the first event on South London bus in 1999, to doing 90 talks in 90 days to groups of strangers challenge his own fears through courageous action at the same time inspiring audiences to do the same. In 2012 he did 365 talks in as many days. Doing what you say gets you what you want™ is the guiding philosophy both for Simon and the work that he does with people. All too often we have great plans and then allow our ‘mind chatter’ to derail us. All fears are based in the past (that happened), and projected into the future (so it will probably happen again). Simon’s mission is to inspire and teach people to go beyond the boundaries they have created for themselves and live a life of possibility, rather than what the ‘past’ says is possible. It takes courage to do this. To quote from the foreword by Pioneer Swimmer and Ocean Advocate Lewis Pugh, “Simon has a remarkable story to tell and if you follow what he proposes in The Art of Courage, your life will change.” ABOUT SIMON EKINSince graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as British Army Officer 25 years ago and cycling the length of Africa, Simon has been championing the cause of courage. Over Simon’s speaking career he has successfully presented over one thousand talks to audiences around the world. He speaks about courage; about why we should see fear and failure as a gift, why we should have faith and belief in ourselves and why action is the only thing that makes any difference. His key message is this: get used to fear. It will always be with us and if we look at it differently and act accordingly, we can transform our lives, results and relationships.
