The Bastard Sons of Dennis: The Furniture (part 2: the wardrobe)
from Wud Records Awesome RSS Feed · host Wud Records
The Furniture (part 2: the wardrobe) by The Bastard Sons of Dennis, from their album Cherry Smoke Empire. The Furniture (Los Muebles) is a traditional northern Spanish sea shanty from the Asturias region. It tells a tale of how a dysfunctional family of linguistically challenged fishermen lost and then found some furniture following a flood, and the consequences. Linguistically challenged means, in this case, they were not terribly bright and could not even speak their own language very well. The Spanish version has been loosely translated into English by The Bastard Sons of Dennis. From an idea by Daniel Richardson. This song and its anomalies of translation make a great teaching aid, if one happens to have students learning English or Spanish. THE FURNITURE (PART 2: THE WARDROBE) Aha! La guaderropa! Pero el abuelo defecado en al guaderropa. Pero el abuelo defecado en al guaderropa. Como irrita. Ah, there is the wardrobe! Grandfather has defecated in the wardrobe. Grandfather has defecated in the wardrobe. How irritating. Donde esta mis tabla de los hermanos? Donde esta mis tabla de los hermanos? Where is the table of my brother? Where is the table of my brother? Music and lyrics: A. Richardson/G. Davies Rhythm guitar and Spanish voices: Q.Wim Lijkkes. Lead guitar and English voices: Yuri Nation.
