The Bells ☂️

The bells of the old church on the corner are striking six.Somewhere else in the world, people have already gone to sleep. Their day is over. The lights are off, the conversations have quieted, and maybe they are already dreaming.But you are still awake.You still have six hours until midnight, and there are so many things on your mind. Thoughts. Dreams. Ideas. Things you should probably do. Things you would like to do. Yet, somehow, you cannot quite decide what to do with any of them.And your mind wanders to those who are far away, those who have already gone to sleep.Still, you feel as though you owe this night a couple of things.You just don't know what they are.Tonight, as I listen to the bells of the old church, I think of you. I wonder how I could help you thread together those thoughts, dreams, and ideas so the night doesn't feel quite so long. So that when midnight finally comes, you can close your eyes and maybe dream about some of the things you spent the evening thinking about.But there is still night left.And maybe you don't have to know what to do with it.Maybe you don't have to figure everything out before midnight.Listen to the bells.Notice the hour.Miss, if you need to miss, those who are far away and already asleep.Finish your favorite drink. Sit quietly for a little while. Cross your arms over your chest, if you prefer, and simply be there.You don't have to solve anything, because tomorrow, the bells will ring again.They will mark six in the morning and, before you know it, six in the evening.Another day.Another space.Another moment.Another opportunity to pick up the thoughts you didn't finish tonight, to dream the dreams that are still taking shape, and to believe in the things you cannot yet see.So, if tonight all you can do is listen to the bells, let that be enough.Tomorrow, they will ring again.And you will have another day to keep thinking, to keep dreaming, and to keep believing!BW
