The Bridge

Sometimes, madness and disappointment try to crush our souls.Sometimes, it feels as if overwhelming dark thoughts are all we have.It can fill every space within us.It can rise to our lips and come out in ways we didn’t measure, ways we didn’t intend.These things happen in life.For those moments, I want to offer you an image.An image of hope.To move from the place of despair, that dark place, into a place of hope (notice I am not saying joy yet), we must first believe that such a place exists. I want to offer you that first destination: hope.A place where you understand that dark thoughts DO NOT have the final word.Imagine a bridge.The first step onto that bridge begins with looking up.Almost physically, I invite you to lift your head.Place your foot at the entrance of the bridge.To walk from despair to hope and, from hope eventually into joy, requires one sacred act: prayer.Today, I offer that prayer for you.Today, I pray that you will take the first step.That you will step onto the bridge.That you will move toward hope.Let’s take that very first step TOGETHER!BW
