The Case of the Unabomber

from Totally Innocent · host Alexander E Ryken

Welcome back to episode 25 of the Totally Innocent Podcast! This week we are taking a look at The Unabomber. A very strange man who left society to be one with nature, only to send literal bombs in the mail. This thinking was, in his mind, the right thing to do.. as if domestic terrorism ever got anybody anywhere, right? Basics of the case: "Theodore John Kaczynski (/kəˈzɪnski/ kə-ZIN-skee; born May 22, 1942), also known as the Unabomber (/ˈjuːnəbɒmər/), is an American domestic terrorist and former mathematics professor.[3][4] He was a mathematics prodigy, but abandoned his academic career to pursue a primitive life.[5] In 1971, Kaczynski moved to a remote cabin without electricity or running water near Lincoln, Montana, where he lived as a recluse while learning survival skills to become self-sufficient. He witnessed the destruction of the wilderness surrounding his cabin and concluded that living in nature was becoming impossible. He resolved to fight industrialization and its destruction of nature through terrorism." want to write in to the show? send an email to [email protected]! F*ck Surviving, We're Thriving Malina Lopez Hello beautiful humans! I have been on my holistic healing journey since 2020 after a massive awakening thanks to a sound healing ceremony. Since then I have dedicated my free time to health and healing (when I'm not too consumed with being a mama of two). Health is something that has always been important to me, but healing myself in a holistic way has allowed me to become a version of myself I am truly proud of. I had no idea there was an option for living life outside of survival mode. As someone who has been in some state of fight, flight or freeze since I was a small child the idea of any other life seemed out of reach and down right unrealistic. I honestly thought how I was living and feeling was totally normal. Once I started to heal all parts of myself down to the cells I am made up of I realized life is so much more than people pleasing, anxiety attacks and living life in a haze. I've been exciting that survival mode and entering my era of thriving.  I feel ready and so e Explicit Straight to the Dome Kirby Gregory Straight to the Dome. It's a veritable cornucopia of culture. A culture-copia, if you will. For each series of episodes, we'll pick a theme, exemplified by one book, one movie, and one game. We'll spend one episode discussing each piece of media on its own, then swing back to discuss all three in relation to the theme as a whole. Topics are announced a month in advance, if you'd like to read/watch/play along with us. If you'd rather not, that's cool too; the beginning of every episode is totally spoiler-free. It's like a super-relaxed book club, but then also two other clubs, which are about movies and games instead of books.
