The Case of Victoria Climbie

Before Baby P, there was Victoria Climbie, a beautiful little girl from the Ivory Coast. Born on November 2nd, 1991 to parents Berthe and Francis Climbie, Victoria was described as a bright and lively child who excelled in school. In October of 1998, a distant relative named Marie-Therese Kouao paid a visit to the Climbie family, offering to take one of their children to Paris to received a better education. Berthe and Francis jumped at this opportunity for Victoria to have a better life than what they could provide at home... or so they thought. Soon, the pair traveled to France, and later England after authorities suspected Marie of abusing Victoria. Sadly, they were right.
