Dec 4  The Conspiracy of LifeAstronomers are all excited about the possibility that they found on an Earth-like planet only 20 light years away from Earth. And since it is a planet, it might contain life!  Have you read the book "Rare Earth?" It deals with the peculiarities of Earth that makes life possible. Our Sun is precisely the right size, and Earth is precisely the right distance from the Sun. Otherwise, we would freeze or roast. The earth's tilt on our axis is precisely correct.  If it were one hundredth of one degree one way or the other, we would freeze or we would roast.  Our Moon stabilizes our rotations. Otherwise, the Earth would wobble, and we would be destroyed by earthquakes.  The Moon is precisely the right size and the right distance from Earth.
