Send us Fan MailAcela Turco was born in Cuba.  She and her family fled Cuba in the 60s to escape the beginning of the Castro regime.  She recounts the story of her family facing immense scrutiny and danger in their efforts to leave the country; including the murder of a family member (in front of the family) by Raul Castro. This is a story of being brave in the face of fear of persecution or death; the virtues of freedom, and the cost that some pay to earn it.
