The Dayroom Club by Patty Prewitt, Broadcast Premiere Of The Award Winning Play Prison Performing Arts, St. Louis Missouri, produced The Dayroom Club by Patty Prewitt as a radio podcast in 2018 from a workshop cast of inmates at the Women’s Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Vandalia, MO, (WERDCC) whose stories inspired Ms. Prewitt’s original play. The production was directed by PPA’s Artistic Director Christopher Limber. Jaws of Justice Radio, Prison Performing Arts and Patty Prewitt have been working for almost a year to bring the Award winning play The Dayroom Club to the airwaves for the first time. This look into the day to day routine at the Women’s Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Vandalia, MO also gives us a lesson in the humanity of those that are incarcerated. Although their lives are regulated 24 hours a day these women still try to find a way to be a part of the important events, sorrowful and joyful occasions of their family and loved ones on the outside. It is in part being deprived of that involvement that brings them together as a family behind bars, their bonds of love and friendship built over time. A special Two…
