The Desk of Ladyada - a QFN swapperoo
from Adafruit Industries · host Adafruit Industries
Hey it's still a chip shortage - here's what we did this week to help manage it! First up, our order of atmega328p's from over a year ago got bumped to late 2023 and at this point we may not even get till 2024. but we wanted to see if we could get a few products back in stock like the feather 328p or metro mini. we did find some atmega328-mmh's in stock at Digi-Key and yoink'ed em. these are non-P type so they are higher power usage and they're 28QFN not 32QFN soooo we need to respin boards but at least we have a couple hundred on hand! Also, as an FYI, LSM9DS1 which we noticed was NRND last week is not officially EOL, we'll be recommending an LSM6DSxx IMU + MMC56x3 magnetometer. The Great Search - I2C IO Expander (Since we can't get MCP230xx) https://www.digikey.com/short/p3jzv5v4 We've really liked using the MCP23017 https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/microchip-technology/MCP23017T-E-ML/964183 and MCP23008 https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/microchip-technology/MCP23008T-E-ML/1223120 buuuuut they're totally unavailable. Lets see if we can find some other low cost (~$1) GPIO expanders, that have programmable pull-up control (once of our fav things about the MCP series!), IRQ output, and 3V or 5V functionality!
