THE EARTH CHOSE YOU — Indigenous Wisdom for a World in Crisis
from Divine Design Podcast & Divine Letters
What if we stopped asking where we belong… …and started asking where the Earth has already chosen us to belong? In this profound episode of the Divine Design Podcast, Ann-Peggy welcomes Erena Rhose, a Māori elder from Aotearoa (New Zealand) now living in Sweden, for a conversation that reaches far beyond culture, spirituality and environmental awareness. Together they explore one of humanity's oldest truths: We are not separate from the Earth. We are the Earth becoming conscious of itself. Erena shares the extraordinary story of being initiated into Mother Earth at just six years old, after surviving a drowning accident. Guided by her granduncle, she spent three days buried in the earth as part of a sacred healing ceremony—an experience that shaped her entire life and awakened a lifelong relationship with nature. Ann-Peggy shares her own Earth initiation in 2017 and how this experience became a foundation for her ceremonies, retreats and understanding of human transformation. Together they explore how Indigenous wisdom and modern spiritual understanding meet in a shared language of reverence, belonging and unconditional love. In this conversation we explore: • Why every human being is a "land person"—chosen by the Earth • Māori wisdom about Mother Earth and sacred relationship • The meaning of Kinuaroha (love distorted by separation) and Kaharoha (love expressed through power and wholeness) • Weltschmerz as humanity's pain of living disconnected from nature • Why honoring the land where we live matters, wherever we come from • Indigenous perspectives on healing, peace and reverence • The balance between feminine and masculine intelligence • Rights of Nature and the future relationship between humanity and the living Earth • How reconnecting with nature also reconnects us with ourselves This is not simply a conversation about protecting nature. It is a conversation about remembering that nature has never been separate from us. The greatest environmental crisis is not what is happening to the Earth. It is what has happened to our relationship with Her. If this conversation speaks to you, please subscribe, share it with someone who loves the Earth, and join us as we explore a new story of humanity—one rooted in remembrance rather than separation.
