The Emphasis of Love!

from Come Closer Podcast · host Come Closer Podcast

A special message for Valentine’s Day. Today we’re gonna delve into the greatest emphasis of love in the Bible. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 defines love (or charity, in older translations) as patient, kind, and selfless, stating it does not envy, boast, act arrogantly, or rude. It is not irritable, resentful, or selfish, but rather rejoices in truth, bears all things, hopes for all things, and endures all things, ultimately never failing. Key Themes in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8:Active Character of Love: Love is characterized by actions—patience and kindness—rather than just feelings. What Love Is Not: It does not envy, boast, act proudly, behave rudely, or insist on its own way.Love's Endurance: It is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, and protects, trusts, and hopes under all circumstances. The Permanence of Love: Unlike spiritual gifts like prophecy or knowledge, which will pass away, "love never fails". Written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Corinth around 54 AD, this passage was intended to address discord and selfishness within the community by defining the true, divine nature of love.It is an example of the self sacrificing love that our savior shows for us every day so much so that he took our sins as our own to the cross. And paid the ultimate sacrificial love.Happy Valentine’s Day from Come Closer
