The Exaltation of a People
from A Word in Season: Messages by R.J. Rushdoony on the Faith for All of Life · host R.J. Rushdoony
The founders believed a nation rises or falls not by power or policy, but by righteousness before God. They took Proverbs seriously “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” and saw moral decay as a summons to judgment, not progress. To them, national strength was first a spiritual matter, not a political one. If they were right, then our deepest crisis today isn’t constitutional or economic, but religious and moral. The true exaltation of a people comes from God alone and it follows faithfulness, not rebellion.
