 It's understood that you can tell a lot about where you are presently and where you're heading by looking back to where you've been.  Or to express the same idea in a different way... To answer why we're in the fix we're in today - and what to do to make it better - we must go to the root of the problem.  Well the root of the problem is given to us back in Genesis chapter three.
