Growing in the Word

The ages-old dilemma of having both a good God and yet evil in the world won't be settled with a couple of sound bites. But there is a satisfying answer and it's found only in the Lord and the things He has revealed in His word.  And we'll glean some of those answers on today's broadcast! 

 It's understood that you can tell a lot about where you are presently and where you're heading by looking back to where you've been.  Or to express the same idea in a different way... To answer why we're in the fix we're in today - and what to do to make it better - we must go to the root of the problem.  Well the root of the problem is given to us back in Genesis chapter three. It's The Fall of Man.

What God intended for marriage is far more than what is typically experienced in marriage today.  Even in the Christian marriage.  That's not intended to discourage you – but to only whet your appetite for more! And today on Growing In The Word – pastor Jim Jarrett will explore the possibilities.

Today we come to Genesis chapter two as we make our way through the bible. For Adam to see his need for a suitable helper – God first calls him to name the animals.  Let's head over to Genesis two and verse twenty.

God takes good care of His children. We'll see an example of this today - as we look at His first Children.  But This is Growing In The Word  and our teacher as always is pastor Jim Jarrett. The plan is to cover Genesis chapter two - verses eighteen through twenty-five.

We've been in the book of Genesis lately. And as we continue our journey through Genesis we'll be reminded that God is not only the creator of all things - but also our redeemer.  And looking at what was originally intended - will give great insight - to what's in store for us who believe.   Let's open our Bibles to Genesis chapter two - at verse thirteen.

God knows what we need and in His great care for us – He provides it.  Though life isn't like the Garden of Eden, one day it will be, because of what Jesus did on the cross.  And as we look forward to the New Creation we can glean insight on the greatness and glory of our God - from the first creation.  And we'll have an opportunity to do just that - today on Growing In The Word. 

Does it makes sense that God is creator?  Are we following blindly, or is there evidence to support Genesis one and two?  We'll look at both sides logically and scientifically and see which one comes out on top.  If you've ever taken human anatomy in school, you have a pretty good idea of how complex our bodies are.  Pastor Jim says that's compelling proof that God did it!  

How did we get here, and what's the real history of mankind?  God has given us His answer to that question in Genesis chapters one and two, and our present series is emphasizing God's creative work.  If you'll recall in chapter one we learned that the Lord created man on the sixth day.   Well here in chapter two He's going to give us some additional details and elaborate.  Let's look together at the real history of man as we return to pastor Jim Jarrett.

God created the Universe and life.  After He was finished He put His stamp of approval on it, saying that it was good.  And then He rested.  As we learned last time on Growing in the Word, that simply means He ceased from His work.  But the question before us today is should we cease from our work and rest?  Some would say, we're commanded to observe the Sabbath.  Pastor Jim Jarrett will help us arrive at a biblical answer.

Genesis has been rightly called the book of beginnings as it reveals the beginning of everything - except for God of course. The bible makes no attempt to prove His existence for that truth is self evident. As the Psalmist said, the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies show His handy work. What a glorious work God has done - how great is our God!  And for you - He made the sky, the oceans, the trees, the animals and in such abundance and variety. 

Today on Growing in the Word we resume our study of the Beginning. It's based on the early part of Genesis, and we've reached the point of creation where God created mankind.  And the first thing He did after that, is He blessed us.  Our God is a blessing God, and that's seen from the beginning of time.

Pastor Jim Jarrett is recalling the beginning of all things right now, through a study of Genesis.  Everyone should take a trip to the zoo at some point, to see the incredible creative genius of God. From lions, to bears, Hippos, monkeys and my favorite - the Giraffe. I could go on and on.  And really that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the various animal life God has created.

We're in the process of going through pastor Jim Jarrett's series on The Beginning.  In essence we're considering how everything came into existence… from the planets, the living creatures that are in the sea, and walk the earth, right on down to our very own lives. Pastor Jim is about to spotlight the fourth and fifth days of Creation, and that's described for us in Genesis one, verses fourteen through twenty-three.

Today is no different.  But it's tragic to see that there are even those within the Church questioning the veracity of the word of God.  And when it comes to the book of Genesis - the attacks are the fiercest.  Why? Well, if the foundation can be undermined then the rest of the structure will crumble.  Today on Growing In The Word, we go on the offensive through a study of Genesis one! 

Look around us in the year 2026 and you can see that the world has drifted away from God. In many cases, they have invented new gods to take His place.It's good to remind ourselves of the God we pray to.  He is the creator. He spoke - then out of nothing He made the heavens and the earth.  He made everything and He's holding it - and us - together. That's comforting! We'll explore this great truth in more detail today on Growing In The Word with pastor Jim Jarrett. 

 On Today's broadcast we begin a new study in the book of Genesis and we'll be examining the creation account.  So let's jump right in.  Pastor Jim begins by reading the scripture and then will introduce this important book..

An invitation to the White House would be deemed pretty important. Well, what about an invitation given to you by God Himself? Well it couldn't get any better than that, could it? You're listening to Growing in the Word with pastor Jim Jarrett.  We'll be finishing up our study of Revelation today with an awesome invitation from God.

Our teacher is pastor Jim Jarrett and he's been leading us on a verse by verse study of the Book of Revelation. Today we will once again spend some quality time in chapter twenty-two, the very last chapter of the entire Bible! What are the last written words of God?

The key question we'll examine once again today is, now that we know what's in store for this world, what are we going to do about it? We go to school for twelve or so years and are expected to use what we've learned to make our way in society. In much the same way, God has given us the information here in Revelation and expects us to use it. Exactly how?

 We are near the end of a long and inspiring journey through the last book in the Bible, Revelation. And today, Jim will continue our study with a message from Revelation twenty two. We've seen and studied the sequence of events that will signal the return of the Lord. The question you and I must answer is this: What should we be doing with the time remaining?

Today we'll be talking about the soon return of Christ. A Gallup Poll concluded that sixty-two percent of Americans believe that Jesus Christ will return to earth someday. If this is true, why aren't more Americans living with a sense of expectancy that Christ could return at any moment? As followers of Christ, our actions need to match our beliefs.

The future is unknown, and human beings always fear the unknown, right? Rather than fearing what is to come, we are to be faithful till Christ returns. Instead of fearing the dark, we're to be lights as we watch and wait.

Today we remember the great sacrifice Jesus made on the cross of Calvary. He died a painful and unjust death for a wonderful reason - to save us from the penalty of our sins. But if Jesus had died on the cross, and the story ended there, we would be in big trouble. But Jesus rose from the grave and walked out of the tomb, and bridged the gap between us and a perfect and Holy God.

With all of the turmoil going on in the world right now, isn't it a comfort to know that God is in control? This coming Sunday we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's the most significant event in human history. Can you imagine going through life in this mixed-up and violent world without the promise of eternal life in heaven? That promise was cemented in stone when the Lord rose from the grave and walked out of that tomb.

As we continue our study of Revelation, pastor Jim will bring us more details about a most amazing place, The New Jerusalem.

What happens when we die? That question has been asked by virtually every person who has ever lived, and it continues to be a source of discussion today. In our study of Revelation chapter twenty one today, we'll see our questions about life after death answered by God Himself. The plain fact is,  every person has an eternal life waiting for them. The difference is in where you spend the time.

Heaven. Have you ever contemplated what that experience will be like? Most of us have, but every person's idea of Heaven is probably unique. We'll be in Revelation chapter twenty one today, and Pastor Jim will help us understand what Heaven will really be like, according to God himself.

As believers, we are indeed bound for another world. Earth may be our current dwelling place, but we are citizens of heaven and that just happens to be the topic of today's broadcast.

As we make our way through each day, we are faced with a barrage of circumstances - some good, some not so good. It's in those not so good times when a word of encouragement from the Lord really comes in handy. We'll look at such a passage today on Growing in the Word

Having talked about The Great White Throne Judgment over the last several programs, we now turn the page to discover a brighter day on the horizon for believers in Christ.  Revelation twenty one describes our future home, and pastor Jim is here to give us a guided tour.

We are going to wrap up pastor Jim's study in Revelation twenty today. This is the last time we'll look at the Millennial Kingdom, and what a time it is going to be one day, when the Lord returns to reign over the earth for a thousand years. It's going to be an amazing time for Christians. Are you ready?

What's your attitude toward sin? Many people look around them and say, "well, it's no big deal, I guess, because everyone else is doing it too". That attitude is in direct conflict with God's attitude. God hates sin. It's what separates us from Him. If you're looking for a good example of the consequences of unrepentant sin, we will be in Revelation twenty today, as we again look at the great white throne judgment, where unrepentant sinners will be judged - harshly.

Today's broadcast centers around the Great White Throne Judgment,  a time in the not-so-distant future when Christ will sit in judgment of sin once and for all. 

We're talking about judgment day today. It's not everyone's favorite subject. But, nevertheless we will all face it one day. Pastor Jim is in Revelation, chapter twenty.

Today on the program, we'll continue our study in Revelation chapter twenty. Throughout the last several weeks of our study - we've seen a battle take place with a casualty count that makes any terrorist attack pale in comparison. Satan and his minions were thoroughly and completely defeated, yet God will allow him one more opportunity to cause havoc on earth. It's the last stand of Satan.

 We have a very interesting program in store for you today as we continue in Revelation twenty. The text is all about the judgment in store for satan when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to reign for a thousand years. And of course we'll also delve further into the events surrounding the triumphal return of Jesus Christ to the earth.

In Revelation chapter twenty we hear of what the world will be like when the Lord not only takes away our sin but satan and sinners too! Everything will change. Hope and change are both popular buzz words today, but these changes are really remarkable to behold! 

 In Revelation chapter twenty we're given a description of what's certain to occur in our future - the Devil will be bound and cast into the bottomless pit. The Saints will be ruling on thrones with the Lord! If this wasn't the inspired word of God it would be too fantastic to believe! Yet it is God's word and it is true.
