The Feasts--Tabernacle (Sukkot)

from Restoration: Where New Life Begins · host John Baldwin

In this final episode of our Feasts of the Lord series, we come to Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles—a celebration of joy, harvest, and divine presence. More than just an agricultural festival, Sukkot is a powerful reminder of God's desire to dwell with His people—not just then, but now and forever. We'll begin by exploring the historical roots of the feast in the wilderness, where Israel lived in booths (temporary shelters) after being delivered from Egypt. God commanded the Israelites to celebrate this feast by constructing and living in these booths for seven days, symbolizing dependence on His provision and presence (Leviticus 23:42–43).Then we’ll fast-forward to the New Testament, where Jesus celebrated this feast in John 7. On the last day, the "great day" of the festival, He cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink” (John 7:37–38). He was pointing to the living water of the Holy Spirit, poured out on all who believe. We’ll unpack how the Feast of Tabernacles was prophetically fulfilled in the first coming of Christ—“And the Word became flesh and dwelt [literally, tabernacled] among us” (John 1:14). And we’ll look ahead to the ultimate fulfillment in Revelation 21, where God declares, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.”You’ll hear practical insights on:Why joy is central to the Feast of TabernaclesHow this feast reminds us to live as pilgrims, not settlers, in this worldWhat it means to carry God's presence into your everyday lifeHow to prepare for eternity with God forever dwelling with His peopleSupport the show
