The Feasts--Unleavened Bread

from Restoration: Where New Life Begins · host John Baldwin

In this episode of Restoration, we explored the Feast of Unleavened Bread—a powerful picture of what it means to live a new, set-apart life after being redeemed.Coming immediately after Passover, this seven-day feast commemorated the Israelites' urgent escape from Egypt. Because they left in haste, there was no time for bread to rise. God commanded His people to eat only unleavened bread and to remove every trace of leaven from their homes. But the deeper meaning goes beyond bread.Leaven (or yeast) in Scripture often symbolizes sin—small, hidden, but capable of affecting the whole. God wasn’t just delivering Israel from Egypt; He was beginning the process of getting Egypt out of them. And that’s what this feast is all about: sanctification, cleansing, and new beginnings. We looked at how this feast finds its spiritual fulfillment in Jesus. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 5:7, “Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival… with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” Jesus is the sinless Bread of Life—pierced, broken, and buried during the very days of this feast. As leaven was removed from every Jewish home, the sinless Son of God was resting in the tomb. What a prophetic picture! And then we got personal:What leaven is God asking you to remove? Pride? Bitterness? Compromise? Secret sin? The Feast of Unleavened Bread isn’t about perfection—it’s about a willing heart, open to being searched and purified. It’s a call to examine ourselves, not in fear, but in faith—knowing that God desires to fill those empty, cleansed places with His presence.✨ This feast reminds us that restoration is more than rescue—it’s renewal. It's not just about being saved, but about being changed.📌 Be sure to join us next week as we look at the Feast of Firstfruits—a celebration of resurrection and hope!Until then, remember: Restoration is where new life begins.Support the show
