The Fed Finally Cuts: What It Means for Mortgages and Markets
from Financial Revelations · host David Szafranski
I'm Back! Welcome to Financial Revelations! A huge thank-you to everyone who came out to the signing for The Sin of Retirement! If you couldn't make it, don't worry—you can still order your copy. The book is now available in hardcover, ebook, and Audible. Visit www.sinofretirement.com for details. Market Update Wednesday marked a big shift in Federal Reserve policy—the start of rate cuts. Chair Powell announced a 25 basis point reduction, and I expect cuts to continue until his term ends in May. My take? The Fed was late. They should have begun cutting back in April. Unfortunately, politics have crept into monetary policy, and Powell doesn't want to leave office remembered as the next Arthur Burns. Looking ahead, I believe we'll see 30-year mortgage rates drop to 5% or below by April/May 2026. That will spark refinancing activity and push markets upward. Listener Questions This week, a listener asked: When should I contribute to a Roth versus a tax-deferred account? What's the best strategy for retiring early? Great questions! Keep them coming.
