The Four Soils:The Crowded Soil
from St. Albert Alliance Church · host Jeremy Peters
In Mark 4:18 Jesus explains what he means: Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Here the soil is soft enough that the seed can penetrate and the roots can grow deep because there are no rocks. The plant begins to spring forth, but then suddenly stops short at most critical moment – when the fruit is just about to appear. And you realize that you have an otherwise, perfectly healthy plant, except that there is no fruit. It looks fine on the outside, but there’s no life in it.The common characteristic of crowded soil is competition.Jesus highlights 3 things that compete for pre-eminence, for first place in our lives.Watch Pastor Jeremy unpack these 3 things in Seed Thought #14
