The Gilead Gazette: Death Penalty CPCs, Title X Hijacked, Mississippi’s 10-Year Sentence

This week on the Gilead Gazette: Heartbeat International, the largest crisis pregnancy center network in the country with over 4,000 centers, hosted the Foundation to Abolish Abortion at their annual conference themed “the power of love.” The abolitionists want women charged with murder for abortion — which means the death penalty in some states. Heartbeat requires exhibitors to align with their principles. The Trump administration announced the next cycle of Title X funding will go to organizations that “prioritize life and promote the pro-family agenda” — replacing birth control access with what Project 2025 calls “fertility awareness and healthy marriage education.” A Texas CPC misdiagnosed an ectopic pregnancy and nearly killed Kaylee Hall — their defense was that ultrasounds are “for educational purposes only.” Texas gave CPCs $140 million last year. A board-certified OBGYN told Jessica Valenti’s Abortion Every Day that the “born alive” language in the Georgia murder case is “an intentional reframing of what is clinically a pregnancy outcome to sound like harm to a newborn child.” Mississippi passed a bill classifying abortion pills as drug trafficking with up to 10 years in prison. Plus Wyoming’s only clinic is turning patients away, Kansas overrode the CARE Act veto, the College Republican political director called for ending women’s suffrage, and the Trump administration labeled IUDs as “abortifacient” and let $10 million in contraception expire.
