The Gilead Gazette: Planned Parenthood Arson, Georgia AG Lying, Jailing Abortion Patients

This week on the Gilead Gazette: A Planned Parenthood clinic in Cincinnati was set on fire on Thursday. Despite significant damage, the clinic resumed services by Friday morning. Assistant medical director Gwen Perry’s response: “Oh, hell no.” This arson happened the same week Trump’s DOJ released an 882-page report declaring clinic violence protected Christian expression. In Georgia, Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Chris Carr went on the radio claiming no women have died from the state’s abortion ban and that doctors saying otherwise are playing politics. Georgia’s own maternal mortality committee concluded that the deaths of Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller could be attributed to the ban. The Republican-led state fired the entire 32-member committee. Carr was AG at the time. In South Carolina, Republicans advanced SB 1095, a bill that would imprison abortion patients for a few years instead of charging them with murder. They are calling it a compromise. In Missouri, Rep. Brian Seitz said rape victims should be counseled before being allowed to access emergency contraception. And in Massachusetts, a federal judge ruled that a lawsuit brought by a reproductive health clinic against a crisis pregnancy center for false advertising can move forward.
