The Gloria Sloan Show: Loss, Overcoming #Hardship and Building a #STRONG Inner Leader

from The Gloria Show · host Bold Brave TV

Tragedy and adversity are inevitable parts of life. For nearly forty years, I have navigated through various losses. It's amazing that everyone experiences these challenges, yet many are reluctant to discuss them, and the workplace often overlooks them. There is a unique leader that emerges from those overcoming loss. My mission is to emphasize the profound shift in perspective that follows a loss, offering a new way to use these lessons to become stronger, more insightful leaders. I breakdown how to harness these strengths and apply them effectively in the workplace, focusing on a new approach to leadership skills like empathy and effective decision-making. There is value in loss and grief; we owe it to ourselves to take the struggles from the lowest times in life, turn them into power, and strive for the highest times in life. TODAY'S GUEST: Jamee Damron-Larsen GLORIA'S WEBSITE: www.GloriaSloan.com GUEST WEBSITE: www.jlcoachchat.com BIO: Jamee is a dynamic speaker, coach, and comedian whose journey has been profoundly shaped by personal loss. Inspired by the sudden passing of her childhood best friend, Jamee pursued degrees in psychology and sociology, leading to a career as a counselor in a psychiatric hospital in Maryland. The tragic death of her mother marked a pivotal moment in her life. Embracing change, she left her job, sold her car, and moved to New York City, where she thrived in the performing arts, including stand-up comedy. In 2021, the loss of her sister to cancer spurred another significant transformation. Having navigated the grief of losing her mother, sister, and best friend, Jamee shifted her focus from performing to public speaking. She now uses her experiences to empower others, speaking nationally about loss and leadership. Jamee has enhanced her expertise with a certified coaching degree and is currently penning her first book, Betting on Better. She recently spoke at the Head Start Annual Conference and is set to return for another engagement, followed by a Women's Empowerment Symposium in New Mexico. When she's not working, Jamee enjoys traveling with her husband, their golden retriever, and imaginary Downton Abbey staff.
