The God Who Makes a Distinction Text: Exodus 11:1–10 Date: 3/29/26 Thesis: In Exodus 11:1–10, God makes distinctions, marked by justice and grace. Exodus 11 stands on the edge of midnight. And in this chapter, the Lord announces one final act—an act that will break Pharaoh, free His people, and display His glory before the nations. But Exodus 11 is not merely ancient history. It is a theological revelation. It shows us who God is, who we are, and where history is heading. And when we read this in light of Palm Sunday, our focus is directed to Christ. Nine plagues have already struck Egypt. The Nile has turned to blood. Frogs, gnats, flies, disease, boils, hail, locusts, and darkness have all come upon the land. Again and again, the Lord has spoken. Again and again, Pharaoh has refused. Again and again, Egypt has seen the power of God, and still the king has hardened his heart. Now we come to the edge of the final plague. This chapter stands in a terrible silence before midnight. It is the hush before judgment falls. The Lord announces one final act that will break Pharaoh, bring down Egypt’s pride, and bring His people out of slavery. But Exodus 11 is not just about one more plague. It is about a truth that stands at the center of redemptive history: God makes a distinction.
