    Adultery, Lust, Divorce, and Eunuchs

Adultery, Lust, Divorce, and Eunuchs Text: Matthew 5:27-32, 19:1-12 Date: 4/26/26 Preacher: Drew Boon As the Good Shepherd, Jesus warns us, His flock, about dangers along our path, and when we ignore Him and fall into traps, He comes and rescues us. He looks out for the weak, helpless, and outcasts and gives them a home and purpose. He protects us from the lion that seeks to devour us.

The Heart of the Matter: Jesus’ Teaching about Anger, Wrath, Murder, and Worship

Title: The Heart of the Matter: Jesus’ Teaching about Anger, Wrath, Murder, and Worship Text: Matt 5:17-26 Date: 4-19-26 Preacher: Ron Hooks We will explore our Lord’s teaching on and application of the Commandment: Do not murder to the spiritual life of 1st Century Jews and 21 Century Christians and look at the 2 options in the world on a religious level: 1. Human Achievement or 2. Devine Accomplishment.

    Salt and Light

Salt and Light Text: Matt. 5:13-16 Date: 4/12/26   Preacher: Tyler Kerley   The Sermon on the Mount is perhaps the most famous speech of all time, let alone the most famous sermon. Throughout the season of Easter, we are going to be studying the Sermon on the Mount, beginning this morning in Matthew 5:13-16, with the images of salt and light. Through these images of salt and light, this small text is asking big question: Why are we here? How are we as the Church to relate to the world? What kind of impact or influence are we as the Church supposed to have on the world? Or, to put it into a more precise form: How are we as the Church to be used by God for the good of the world? And the answer this text gives to that question is that God blesses the world through the Church's (1) identity, (2) purity, and (3) visibility.

    Resurrection at the Red Sea

Resurrection at the Red Sea Text: Exod. 14:9-14, 21-31 Date: 4/4/26   Description: Easter is rightfully the high Point of the Christian year. The Crossing of the Red Sea is similarly a high point in the Old Testament. It is a very fitting passage to read on Easter, because the crossing of the Red Sea is the resurrection of the Old Testament; the image of the Red Sea is the Old Testament equivalent to the Empty Tomb.   So what does this text teach us about the resurrection?  It teaches us that, because of the resurrection of Jesus ... We do not need to fear,  We can stand firm by faith, and  We will one day see the salvation of the LORD.

The God Who Makes a Distinction

The God Who Makes a Distinction Text: Exodus 11:1–10 Date: 3/29/26   Thesis: In Exodus 11:1–10, God makes distinctions, marked by justice and grace.   Exodus 11 stands on the edge of midnight. And in this chapter, the Lord announces one final act—an act that will break Pharaoh, free His people, and display His glory before the nations. But Exodus 11 is not merely ancient history. It is a theological revelation. It shows us who God is, who we are, and where history is heading. And when we read this in light of Palm Sunday, our focus is directed to Christ. Nine plagues have already struck Egypt. The Nile has turned to blood. Frogs, gnats, flies, disease, boils, hail, locusts, and darkness have all come upon the land. Again and again, the Lord has spoken. Again and again, Pharaoh has refused. Again and again, Egypt has seen the power of God, and still the king has hardened his heart. Now we come to the edge of the final plague. This chapter stands in a terrible silence before midnight. It is the hush before judgment falls. The Lord announces one final act that will break Pharaoh, bring down Egypt’s pride, and bring His people out of slavery. But Exodus 11 is not just about one more plague. It is about a truth that stands at the center of redemptive history: God makes a distinction.

The Light of Israel in the Darkness of Egypt

The Light of Israel in the Darkness of Egypt Text: Exod 10:21-29 Date: 3/22/26 Fear of the darkness is one of humanity’s most primal, instinctive fears. Whether it’s a child being put to bed or an adult leaving a lamp on in the living room, we are all afraid of the darkness.   Because of our fear of the dark, the themes of light and darkness is one of the most prominent and one of the richest themes in the Bible. God has “called us out of darkness, and into his marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:10), and God has “delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the Kingdom of his beloved Son” (Col. 1:13).   In the Ninth Plague, when God brings darkness upon Egypt, it is about something much deeper than our simple fear of the dark. And yet, even in the midst of Egypt’s darkness, God’s people Israel still have light — a light that even the darkness cannot put out.

    The Fear of the LORD

Sermon Title: The Fear of the LORD Text: Exod 9:13-30 Date: 3/8/26 The fear of the LORD is one of the most fascinating themes in all of Scripture. On the one hand, Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,” And yet, on the other hand, 1 John 4:18 says that “perfect love casts out fear.” In fact, the most frequent command in the Bible is “do not fear.” But we are told, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”    Obviously, from the Bible’s point-of-view, there is a good kind of fear, and a bad kind of fear; a right way to fear God and a wrong way to fear God. But how can you tell the difference? What does it mean to truly fear the LORD?   That’s what this seventh plague is about. This text warns us against three versions of wrong fear — No Fear, Indifferent to Fear, and Fear of Consequences — in order for us to have a healthy, true fear of God.
