The Greatest Stories Ever Told: The Parables Of Jesus a new book by Jim English

from The Cosmic Citizen · host Paula Thompson

The authors of The Urantia Book state that their purpose in producing the narrative of the life and teachings of Jesus was to utilize and to some extent co-ordinate the existing records having to do with his life. This can be clearly observed in their accounts of his parables. Jesus' parables are as well-known to Bible readers as they are to readers of The Urantia Papers. They have been fairly well-preserved in the records of old, but we now hear them retold with rich context and settings; their meanings clarified, their teachings replete. They comprise some fifteen thousand spoken words of our Lord, precisely translated into modern-day English; over twice the number set down in the original record. They are SUBLIME. These seemingly simple stories that Jesus told us so long ago are as timeless as he is himself. They have left an indelible mark on humanity, coming down through the ages as sublime inspiration and instruction, traveling light without doctrine or dogma. Jim English is a long-time reader of the papers and he has produced and published an illustrated version of these parables entitled, The Greatest Stories Ever Told: The Parables of Jesus. He will join us this Saturday to discuss the publication and the stories themselves. You can download a free interactive PDF version of the book at: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ut7a9mwtx3bifvb/AAAFeBk6zXdxRGj5Uq3wRD-ea?dl=0 Here you will find just some of the selections in the book of forty parables which Jesus often employed as natural and familiar illustrations of deep spiritual truths. These seemingly simple stories have left their indelible mark on humanity, coming down through the ages as sublime inspiration and instruction, traveling light without doctrine or dogma. Truly a pearl of great price. Join us!
