The Handmaid’s Tale - Social and Political Themes

from Above the Garage TV Podcast - Industry · host Above The Garage

Hi friends! Today we have a second special episode for you guys. The many panelists on our podcast who have not yet had a chance to weigh in on the ending of the show have put together a series of episodes for you that we’re calling a Meta Mini-Series. This second episode of three is entitled, “Social and Political Themes of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu”.The Handmaid’s Tale book has been hailed as a literary classic as well as an important cautionary tale that has become ever more relevant every year since the book’s publishing in 1985. The show’s creation in 2016 felt especially timely, and many have sought to use the striking visuals and symbolism of the show as a representation for feminism. The recent finale of the show has left audiences torn on whether this ended as a good message of feminism, or a message gone astray. This episode will address many of the events and messages of the show as it relates to that discourse, as well as the history that has come before it, and the politics that have, and will continue to influence the world as we know it.Please come back next week for a third and final episode in this Meta Mini-Series to wrap our years of podcasting The Handmaid’s Tale. And then we’ll be moving on to podcast a new show on this platform in the very near future – we hope you stick around! And follow us on Instagram at @tht_abovethegarage to see our new gift shop and our new show announcement coming soon!
