from Santhosam Podcast: Guiding Light of Spiritual Wisdom

In the 19th Velvi Discourse, Gurumahan Reveals How Nishtha and Tapas Differ in Nature and Lead Humanity Beyond the Fear of Space and the Limitations of Time.Space and time both influence human life. The place we are in and the time we live in are considered important. Even today, before starting a good deed on a Sunday, people look at the timing and ask whether it is Rahu Kalam. The Guru may not know or care about Rahu Kalam, but loving disciples keep it in mind. If I go somewhere at 4:35, I may not feel anxious, but you become worried thinking, “Guru is going during Rahu Kalam. What will happen to him?” When fear keeps repeating in the mind, people begin to believe that something bad may happen. But for one who worships God sincerely, neither the day, nor the planets, nor karma can cause harm. When we hold firmly to the Divine, nothing can shake us. Many astrologers frighten people by speaking constantly about planets, Rahu Kalam, and unfavorable times. Whether the planets control us or not, these fears certainly control people’s minds. But time and planetary positions cannot overpower great sages and realized beings. Instead, they become supportive forces. When we are in divine consciousness and act with sincerity, our actions will naturally move in the right direction. The date 21-12 was not chosen deliberately, yet whatever great souls think with purity happens for good. This shows that divine grace and the Guru’s blessings continue to guide us completely. If our intentions and actions remain good, then even if there is delay or difficulty, the final outcome will become greater than what we expected. The highest way of living is to help others live happily. Every day, we should do at least one good deed. When we wake up in the early morning, we should pray with divine awareness that all beings live joyfully. When we greet others with folded hands and speak words of happiness, our thoughts, words, and actions become pure. Then thought itself becomes tapas, speech becomes tapas, and action becomes tapas. No matter how much tapas a person performs, its true result must be harmony. Without harmony, tapas has no meaning. A husband should live in harmony with his wife, and a wife should live in harmony with her husband. When parents support and uplift their children, children too will eventually uplift their parents. What we sow first is what we later receive. Therefore, sow only goodness.Do not think harm toward anyone even in your mind. Even the desire to take what belongs to another is considered theft in thought. Never think negatively about another life. Do not speak words that wound another person’s heart. Let your actions never cause suffering to any being. When these qualities exist, you become a noble member of the Paranjothi family. Those who truly love the Guru will certainly follow the Guru’s words. The path of wisdom begins with listening, then reflecting deeply on what was heard, gaining clarity through reflection, and finally reaching realization. That final state is called Nishtha. It is even higher than ordinary tapas. That is why in UPF, the state is called Nishtha. Tapas is often done with a desire to gain something in return. In many stories, people perform tapas to receive boons from God. But Nishtha is different. Nishtha seeks nothing in return. It is not practiced for rewards or benefits. It is the state where one says, “O Lord, whatever You have given me is enough. I only wish to realize You and know my true state.” That is why, in UPF, this spiritual state is called Nishtha rather than meditation or tapas.Send us Fan MailLet Wisdom Flourish!Let Peace Prevail!
