from Team Engineered Podcast

The best entrepreneurs know how to maximize the Third Space between work and family life and strike that much needed balance to achieve happiness and well being. Tune in to this new episode of the Team:Engineered show — The Importance of Downtime for Leaders with Jade Green and Kyle Probert.Key points covered in this episode:[00:04:51] The concept of Third Space is the moments between our busy lives when we can intentionally take a break and compose ourselves. We create a conscious shift between work and home and create a balance.[00:05:51] Jade Green covers why as individuals, not many understand the value of having a downtime, getting into your zone and setting your intention of how you're going to show up since this is something that is very rarely taught and talked about.[00:12:35] Refill your cup so that you've got heaps to offer everyone else. In 2020, we realized how important self-care is as a remedy to promote our physical, mental, and emotional health. Taking the time to intentionally nourish ourselves and pursue routines that put us at ease to counter the stressors we have to handle is the proven way to maintain balance and sustainability in all aspects of our lives.[00:15:40] Planning your downtimes inside your schedule is necessary. As simple as getting a haircut, pedicure, a massage or getting your brows done are all part of the self-care that must be prioritized.[00:22:18] Kyle Probert shares how surfers understand that getting good weather and glassy waves means you've just got to have that time to yourself. Surfing also teaches mustering the courage to ride the waters with a positive mindset and have fun despite the risks of falling.[00:27:30] We forget that sometimes we have to slow down to get faster. When you practice this for yourself and your team, expect more productivity. Kyle shares, "encourage them to do a download at the end of the day. This practice is making a mental note of what you got done, what's left out, and what you are doing tomorrow? 'Emptying' the brain to download everything out gives you a window to get organized and not take home the work stuff in your mind."[00:35:39] Mindfulness and meditation are not easy for everyone. It may seem challenging to practice silencing your thoughts or the world around you, but what you can do is to take the time to pause, breathe and start noticing all that. [00:41:36] Give yourself permission and actually say to yourself, "I allow you to have this weekend off." Again, having some downtime is not a selfish thing. Spend the time to recharge.__________________________________________________________________________________ABOUT TEAM: ENGINEEREDTeam: Engineered is your go-to podcast for all things team building and business scaling.
