This week our good friend Chris joins us to talk about the 1996 thriller ‘ Sleepers’. Sleepers is the story of four young friends growing up in the storied neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen in late 1960s NYC and a major trauma that changes the course and quality, of all their lives permanently. While playing a relatively innocent prank on a local hotdog vendor, they severely injure a man and are sent away to a juvenile detention center known as the Wilkinson Home for Boys. While incarcerated, they are subject to severe physical and sexual abuse by the guards. Later in life, two of the men who have become dangerous killers encounter the main perpetrator and take his life publicly. The two remaining friends set out on a mission to not only make sure their two friends do not see consequences from the murder, but also to exact revenge on the remaining living guards. With an ensemble cast including the likes of Kevin Bacon, Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Jason Patric, and the screen debut of Billy Crudup, this film takes you on an intense journey you won’t soon forget.
