The Joy in Ritual Slaughter
from Breslov Therapy · host Meir Elkabas
This class is based on Likutey Moharan Lesson 24: The Torah alludes to the detailed laws of Shechitah (ritual slaughter), transmitted orally to Moshe Rabbeinu at Har Sinai. Because kosher meat contains trapped holy sparks, it is especially suited to times of mitzvah and simcha (joy), when a person can participate in their elevation. The five principal laws of Shechitah hint to five pathways toward joy: maintaining momentum through music and movement, breaking excessive seriousness with lightheartedness, revealing the joy of the future, finding good points within one’s present situation and giving thanks without trying to force life. The connection between basar (meat) and besorah (good tidings) teaches that these forms of simcha prepare a person to receive the ultimate good news—the coming of Mashiach—with the proper spiritual vessels. For more on this lesson: linktr.ee/breslovtherapy_lesson_24If you have been inspired by this class/lecture please share it with your friends.
