The King and the Polar Bear

L. Frank Baum, the author of The Wizard of Oz, also wrote fairy tales. In today's episode we read "The King of The Polar Bears" from Baum's book, American Fairy Tales. The moral from this story is, "… that true dignity and courage depend not upon outward appearance, but come rather from within; also that brag and bluster are poor weapons to carry into battle." This fairy tale contains human-to-animal violence and animal-to-animal conflict. Fairy tales such as this one remind us how far we have gone in terms of censorship.
