The Last Action Hero 1st Draft - Unproduced Scripts - Old Man Orange Podcast 500

On our big 500th episode we decided to go back in time with the 1st draft script of The Last Action Hero. on one of our Unproduced Scripts segments. Unproduced as in, the version before Arnold Schwarzenegger was even attached. This script came out in 1991 by Zak Pakk and Adam Leff also before Shane Black came in to put his groove on the storyline. Now we love the Arnie 1993 take we got best but this original draft is a very interesting, alternative take on the whole concept. Which to me, Last Action Hero has the best concept of any story out there. I mean, who would not want to go into their favorite movie, tv show, cartoon, video game, and so on now?  This script keeps the core concept of Danny getting sucked into an action flick but beyond that it starts going in different paths, with alternate type characters, locations, and leading into a completely different 3rd act where the story goes almost twilight zone like. Plus there's material in here that would be tough for any studio to get behind and not feel a responsibility problem in the near future. Playing out almost like it was a PG-13 Roger Corman or Tromaville film. Very interesting stuff here. So come on by and join us for the good times as we go through the entire script. Relive a classic in a different stroke. Last Action Hero was a action flick way ahead of it's time, easily lost over by Jurassic Park at the time but finding it's audience in the Danny aged target demographic. And funny enough, nowadays you see knock offs of this style. Other great flicks like Forbidden Kingdom, Ready Player One and even Tropic Thunder.
