The Little Child Who's the Bridge Across Generations
from Sunday Homilies with the Redemptorists · host Novena Church
In today's Gospel, we see God coming to the temple in the form of a little child, whom Simeon can take in his arms lovingly. In Jesus, it is possible for all of us to embrace God. At the temple, Simeon recognized him as the expected messiah, and Anna acknowledged his divine presence. The encounter brought together two young parents, Mary and Joseph, with the two elderly, Simeon and Anna, bridging the New Testament with the Old, as Jesus unites all generations. As we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, we are reminded of God's unconditional love for us and the presence of this great light and hope, and our mission to be the light for others. - Sunday Homily by Fr. Sikstus Bapa Atawolo, C.Ss.R. (2 February 2025)
