When King Asa became king of Judah, he brought reform to the land.  He removed the foreign altars and the high places.  He also smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.  Judah had gone into apostasy, however King Asa led the southern kingdom to return to the worship of the true God.  God prospered Judah and gave them victory over their enemies, because they repented and sought Him.  God had Azariah, prophesy to King Asa and Judah, "The LORD is with you when you are with him.  If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you," (NIV).
